Juvenile Treatment Outcome

The Juvenile Treatment outcome is a troubled youth (male and female) counseling or treatment "effectiveness" or "outcome" assessment instrument or test. The same test is administered twice, consequently juvenile history (court and treatment) is kept to a minimum. The pretest (intake, before treatment) becomes the baseline that the posttest (after treatment) is compared to. Computer software compares pretest (intake) with posttest (after treatment) scores and prints a "Comparison Report."

The Juvenile Treatment Outcome consists of 163 items and takes 35 minutes to complete. It has twelve (12) scales (measures) that include:

  • Truthfulness Scale
  • Outlook Scale
  • Self-Esteem Scale
  • Adjustment Scale
  • Anxiety Scale
  • Depression Scale
  • Suicide Scale
  • Control Scale
  • Alcohol Scale
  • Drugs Scale
  • Violence Scale
  • Stress Coping Abilities

Although the Juvenile Treatment Outcome is computer scored, the majority of evaluators use paper-pencil test booklets and answer sheets. This does not tie up their computer and enables evaluators to test individually or in groups. Then at the evaluators convenience he/she can input the answers into the computer for scoring. From data input the test is scored, interpreted and the Comparison Report is printed within 2 ½ minutes. And the Juvenile Treatment Outcome is available in English and Spanish.

Applications: juvenile counseling and treatment program effectiveness. The Juvenile Treatment Outcome procedure assesses change from the pretest (intake) to the posttest (after treatment) time interval. The twelve (12) Juvenile Treatment Outcome scales (measures) are the criterion for pre-post comparison.
